CIPS 1 Day: Bukit Tinggi

June 29, 2008 Leave a comment

CIPS 1 day for 2008, 27th and 28th June…

This year around, we went to Bukit Tinggi for our CIPS 1 day..

We started our journey at 0800 hours, as we were supposed to reach there by 0930 hours.

Hence Shanice, May Jean and Isha (We needed 4 people in the car in order to claim full mileage >.< ) were all at my place at 0800… We reached Bukit Tinggi at approx. 0915 hours, and went for registration and had breakfast provided by the firm. The day then kicked off with the organisers and sector head giving speeches.

Seated for speeches by sector head and organisers: With Tze Hoe, Wai Kuin and my roomie.

After that, telematches. We were split into 12 teams, with 11-13 members in each team. The telematches were pretty fun, and ended at about 1330 hours. We were then served lunch and free time while waiting to check-in to the rooms.

Lunch timeeeeeeee!!! With Elaine (Left) and Teng Siew

Compulsory shot with everyone….well..almost…(While waiting to check in)

Another with IGB team: From left: Rachel, Kwee Cheng, Chor, Pei Tze, Wai Kuin & Me

Checked into our 5-star-hotel room at approximately 1445 hours, and rested for a while. (The room sure didn’t look anything like 5-starssssss….. =.=

Then….hell broke loose… (*At least for me) at 153o hours…as the event for the second half of the day…Hiking~!

Had pretty bad experience in the botanical garden in Bukit Tinggi (when I went with my family last year..)…

and this was re-living my nightmare..

It was exhausting~!! To start off, I’m never really a fan of hiking/jungle trekking…*bugs..mosquitoes…leeches…dirt..thornsssss* It was a lil like jungle trekking, and we really have to go down steep hills (or mountains) *Some of us were really hanging on to our dear lives* and then climb back up… =.=

Not to mention, as almost 130 of us took the almost same track, it was congested inside the jungle~!!!!

I really reckon I nearly died..if not from the rolling going down the hill, then it would be from the body ache I got the day after…

Start of the hiking….

I couldn’t be bothered to take a picture after the hike…as I was just dirty (my shoes…ready to be thrown away), tired, and a lil hurt…got a few cuts on my right hand… (-.-)

Went straight for the shower after hiking, and then was dinner…

After dinner: With Melissa, Isha, Shanice, and Kah Leng.

Didn’t stay on for the drinking session, as we were all pretty tired from the hike…but then…ended up playing taboo in our room! hahah..still no sleeping early for me….

The next day was much better, as we only had a mini treasure hunt after breakfast..and then..CIPS 1 Away Day officially ended..

We checked out…

and then….more picture taking session~!!

Shane, Elaine, Isha, Melissa, Me, Caroline, and May Jean

Another with the IGB team! =)

With everyone in my car: Shanice, May Jean, Isha, and the intruder: Melissa (She decided to follow me back….for…I don’t know what reason..but it’s all good!!)…

Bukit Tinggi: View from the top….

And this was how much things we brought for a 2 days one night trip:

After we checked out, we decided to stop for lunch…..at this place…*Cis..I forgot the name of the place*…anyway..food was good..

Drunken prawns with glass noodle

One final shot before we leave for our own way

Back row: Melissa, Shanice, Me, Siong Sie, Isha, Elaine, Wai Kuin

Front row: May Jean, Wee Kee, Yuan Meng, Caroline, Shane, Tze Hoe

Reached home at approx. 1530 hours….exhausted..

unpacked…then went straight for the bed…

And my body is still aching now….Shucks..I feel like an old lady.

Conclusion: No more hiking/ jungle trekking for me..they are evilllllll….

Crossroads

June 23, 2008 5 comments

2.5 years in the firm, with the golden 3 years coming, some would already be scouting for jobs elsewhere. At least that’s what the firm thinks~!!
Statistically, resignation rate is highest at 3 years, for most would have gotten their professional title, had their fair share of sleepless nights, eyebags, sweat and tears and looking 13 years older than when they first started.
As for most too, the firm is their first employer, and hence, 3 years down the road, many felt that they are ready to venture out into the unknown, either to challenge their boundaries further, or perhaps to settle down for something that offers better work-life balance.
Whatever the reasons that drove the high rate of resignations, the firm isn’t liking it. Afterall, the firm invested so much in each and everyone of us, be it in the form of sponsoring our professional papers, or giving us classroom lessons to prepare us for the hard auditing world outside.

Anyway, the firm has decided that they would like to conduct a course called Crossroads for all “newly promoted seniors” *Newly promoted = Jan promotion. For Jan – May was peak period, hence it wasn’t quite possible for them to hold any course then* for us to think about what we really want to do next….

The course was a lil more like an Away Day for the Seniors as we were not required to bring our laptops, and it was a 2 days 1 night course, at Shangri-La, Putrajaya. *Sweet*..

Day 1 (19/06/2008):
Suzen picked me and Shane up from my place at 0830 hours on Thursday, 19 June 2008, and we headed to Putrajaya. *I was suprised that SuZen was on time~!Impressed*

The moment we reached there, we were asked to tag our luggages and leave it at the concierge, while we head down to the multi-purpose hall…where we were served breakfast..*Nice*

Pics taken while at Breakfast, catching up with everyone.

With Wai Kuin and Wee Kee…and then more ppl jumped into the pic…

Then we headed for some team building activities in the hall, and it was then that I got the news that Bailey was in labour~!! \(^o^)/

Lunch, Tea and Dinner were also provided by the hotel. We were so well fed during that 2 days period that by Friday evening, we don’t want food no more…

Back to Day 1.When we were given our 3rd break for the day – Evening tea, we were also given the access cards to our rooms….all checked in~! Luggage in our respective rooms~!
I was impressed….Guess that’s the difference between a 5-star hotel and a 3-star hotel…
We walked in, and geez…the room was niceeeeeeee…and there’s even a windbreaker on each of the bed~!

The 2-super-comfy-bed

The bathroom (Shower at the side, bath tub and toilet)…There are windows~!!

With my roomie… and 2 intruders from next door…hehehhe

We were so fascinated with the windows in the bathroom that we just had to take a pic with it~! *jakun*

As we finished early on the first day (Finished by 1600 hours), we went to walk around and ended up in the jacuzzi, sauna and then the swimming pool
=) *Blisssss*
We were really being spoilt by the firm…which was, obviously, all good with us…

Dinner was served at 1930 hours, and we headed back to the room for cards session till 0200 the next day..
=.=…
So much for taking a good rest when we are off work…

Day 2:
The day started at 0900 hours, as the course instructor told us straight to our face the day before “I doubt you guys will actually turn up even if I say we are to start at 0830 hours…so, we will be starting at 0900 hours tomorrow”… Hurrah~!

But at 0900 hours…
*rushing to the multi purpose hall, and passed thru the coffee house…looks around*
Aiks…chill chill..everyone still eating..come we go grab some food too…
And we sat down and eat…
At 0920 hours…the course instructor had to come to each and every one of us telling us to head to the multi purpose hall…some with food in their mouth, others holding their juices…

More team building activities before we had a morning tea break, and were told to check out…

And this is what we do before we check out….taken with the windbreaker given by the firm…The sizes were a lil too big for us, but it was pretty cool nonetheless, reversible, and very comfy…
And well…it kept me warm….and that was all that matters then…

Lunch break was longgggggg….so more picture taking session:

It was soooooo hot outside…so the jacket turned to an “umbrella”….

One with Tze Hoe…..and another with Sze Pin…

At the pool side…

Back at the room

One with CIPS…and another intruder from Financial Services (The guy in brown) o.O

Finally~! One with all CIPS ppl..

The course ended about 1800 hours and we were requested to head to Bangsar for dinner, with the bosses….

A final picture right before dinner…

Headed home about 2200 hours….exhausted…but satisfied…
And well…the course did get me thinking a lil on what I really wanna do……
But I have yet to get an answer…
tsk tsk…

Conclusion: Food was good, Course was fantastic, and the place fantabulous~! The best course yet!!

Pups~!! Pupppiess~!!

June 21, 2008 7 comments

Bailey finally gave birth on Thursday, 19th June 2008~!
It was in the morning, and only mom was home, as dad and I were both out at work.
It was approximately 1030 hours when I received an sms from dad telling me Bailey was in labour.
By then, 2 was born, and sadly, one did not make it.
The one that lived was a female~!
Mom was soooo sad about the death of pup….
Luckily, a neighbour came by to help, and upon seeing that Bailey was having trouble delivering, they decided to take her to the vet.
There, another 2 pups were born thru caesarean. Both males~!
3 very healthy pups~!
Each about 15cm long….and sooooo soft and fragile~!!

The white one at the bottom: Youngest; the one in the middle: Oldest (The female).

Woohoo~!
But sadly, Bailey hasn’t been feeling very well since..
She hasn’t eaten much since then….and whenever she drinks, she vomits..
Hence, we brought her back to the vet earlier this morning, and are now currently force-feeding her.
Nonetheless, she does look a lil better by the day…

So so much thinner now…. (-.-)

She’s such a gentle mom~!, always by the side of her pups, caring for them…
(Although I reckon she needs protection herself actually)…
hehehe…

A lil messy pic…Bailey’s head was between the 2 pups, and the third has gone….hiding…

Pups feeding….

Sleeping… *Note there’s still one there that was feeding -.-*

Conclusion: Phew~! Finally done with the labour. Now…raising the pups!! *Dad seems to be very keen to keep ALL of them* *faints*

RM2.70 per litre??!!

June 4, 2008 5 comments

Most Malaysians would have known by now. For those few whom were extremely ignorant, the petrol price would be at RM2.70 per litre from tomorrow onwards (05/06/2008).
The news was released by our very own prime minister at approximately 1600 hours today, and from then on, it has been total madness all over KL, PJ, and my guess, all other places too…
Traffic has been crazy the whole night, as most cars are out trying to fill up a full tank before the new price takes effect~!
The queue for all petrol stations were simply…..crazy, and me being me, I obviously joined in the madness. (Well, my tank was almost empty anyway)
Afterall, on an average tank of 50 litres, it would mean an additional RM39 for a full tank~!!
That’s hell alot~!
The traffic and things near petrol stations were so bad, that the first one I went to had no more petrol in the station, and the second, had a few policemen, in addition to the stations staff just to direct traffic and ensure that nothing crazy breaks out.
I waited for approximately 30 minutes before it was my turn, and I certainly believe there are others who got it much worse…
And it certainly feels like I strike a lottery when I was done with the pump~! Crazy, but ironically, quite fun.
And while I was lucky as I was told of the empty tanks (In the 1st petrol station) by the staff early, some waited for almost an hour before they got the news that they are not gonna get their car filled.

Petrol price is currently already at sky high price of RM1.92 per litre, would have a further increase of RM0.78 per litre to reach RM2.70 per litre. That’s a freaking 40% increase~!
For those whom are earning minimum wages, this would seriously be a huge blow. Directly, everyone would have to pay more for their petrol. Indirectly, price of everything else will definitely increase within a month…from cooked food, to sugar, rice, gas, flour..and the list goes on.
Personally, I’m grateful, for in the field I work in, we are given travel allowances to travel to clients place. But as a whole, I too am worried at the potential and highly likely increase in price of everything else…
The only consolation is that cars below 2 litres capacity engine will be getting a cash rebate of RM625 per year, while cars above 2 litres capacity will get a cut in road tax by RM200 p.a.
Besides that, I wish everyone luck in making ends meet.

p/s: If that wasn’t bad enough, there will also be an 18% increase in electricity rates for home owners, and 26% (if i remember correctly) increase for businesses.
Further to that, the subsidy by government on public transportation will also be lifted, and it is expected that the prices of public transport (Mainly Rapid KL – LRTs, Buses) will be increased in near future…

Conclusion: We get an annual increment, on average of 5%-10%….and now, petrol prices increased by 40%….frankly, I’m a lil worried for myself too…

Bailey is E-x-p-e-c-t-i-n-g~!

June 1, 2008 4 comments

Or so we think…she’s getting fatter by the day…
Mom just called me yesterday to confirm her pregnancy, but me being me, I was obviously not quite sure…

Mom: I think you guys should bring her to the vet..
Me: Yeah…but dad’s a lil lazy…and well…apparently, she knows how to deal with the whole process of giving-birth herself..
Mom: Sure boh? Better bring her to the vet leh…
Me: o.O…

Whatever the reason, she is getting very cute~! Another reason why I spend more time away from keyboard these days..play with Bailey!

2 months ago:

With more fur, but still thin…

1 month ago:

A lil fatter….

A week ago:

Look at how round her face has gone~! Photos taken with my mobile phone, under bad lighting..

And so I lured her out to the living and took a few more shots..She IS quite rounded these days..

And absolutely adorable….

Albeit a lil naughty… It was so hard to get her to sit still, that I had to hold some snacks in one hand, so that she would sit down, and I quickly snap the pics…hahah

Also taught her a few tricks, ie. hand, right hand, sit, stand…
Sometimes, she’s just being overly-smart…the moment she sees snack in my hand, she would automatically sit down, and lift one hand up…
Me: EH! Haven’t la! I didn’t ask you for hand also…
*Gives me the most adorable look she has*
Me: *Melts*…okla okla…*gives her the snack*
Cis…always get conned…

Recently, my aunt told my dad that she saw someone outside the house one night, trying to lure Bailey to him/her..while we were out…
We suspect that someone may want to steal her, considering how cute she is now…
Thank god Bailey ignored the person, just sat there, and stared…
Dad actually freaked out, and chained the front gate these days..so that no one can come into the porch and steal her away~!

Anyway, if she is indeed expecting, I would expect that she would be giving birth sometime this month (in June 2008)…
Dad is kinda excited with the thought of having more puppies with us..
while I’m just enjoying whatever I have now..

Conclusion: Bailey is good, for she makes us happy, and being happy is good. =)
