When I was supposed to be working….

March 30, 2008 6 comments

For the past 3 months or so, I’ve refrained myself from as much as possible to have a work-related post. But since it’s peak, and my life revolved around nothing more than work, I’ve ceased to come up with any post since.

The reason I’ve decided against posting on work-related posts is mainly due to a few comments I received from my friends in Dec ’07:
Friends: I guess the next 3 months would be more on you complaining bout work again? Since the peak’s coming…

End of the first quarter of 2008, the time where things should head for the better…but looking ahead, it sure doesn’t seem like it to me…

I’m mentally and physically tired, and exhausted.
Yet, work continue coming, piling up, mountain high..
I was working for the whole day yesterday (Saturday, 29/03/2008), and I brought work home after that! (-.-)

But while I was supposed to be working, I’ve decided to go for a haircut (Since I haven’t had one for ages, and my hair is getting very very messy)…
I came home at 1630 hours, and started working…
*15 mins later*

Cam-whoring with my new haircut!!…with my tired-looking face..I even forgot to smile in the first pic…
(-.-)* Lame….
(After seeing my dead looking face loads for the hundredth time, I reckon it’s really really bad…hence decided to take the pics down…

Geez! I can’t help it! I can hardly concentrate on my work after working at them for 15 hours a day, 6 days in a week! And it’s a Sunday! Gimme a break!
My brain has gone on a strike today!
teheheheh

Alright! Now back to work! Oh wait! It’s dinner time!

Conclusion: When one doesn’t feel like working, she has 1000 reasons/things to do for not working…I’m H-O-P-E-L-E-S-S…

A new member in the family!

March 30, 2008 11 comments

Earlier this year (Sometime in Jan ’08, I think), a stray dog came into the house.
On one fine night, upon returning home from work:
Dad: Hey, did you see a dog outside?
Me: What puppy? I didn’t see anything!
Dad: No?? Try looking again, it’s at the garage area
Me: Wokays… *Walks out, look look see see……look again…left right left right…walks back in* I can’t see any dog, or whatever!
Dad: Hmm…the dog left? Can’t be…it was there bout half an hour ago

So, both of us headed out to the garage
Dad: There! *Points at a lump of I-dunno-what*
Me: Where? That thing? You sure it’s a dog?
Dad: Yeah. It was outside just now. When I came home, and opened the door to park my car in, the dog followed me in, and has been lying there since
Me: OoooOoo
Dad: It IS a dog..come we go down and see. *Opens the door to the garage*

The dog jumped up at the sound of the door opening, and eyed us cautiously, ready to run if we were to do anything drastic.
Well, actually, I don’t think she has much energy left in her to really run actually…
For the first time in my life, I set my eyes on what-was-eventually-named-Bailey.
For those who didn’t know me well enough, I was dead-afraid of dogs. Well, can’t blame me, since I was chased by dogs…yes..more than once! (>.<)” But this dog, is different. She (The gender was later confirmed by the vet) looked scared, abandoned, tired and sick. She’s tiny, thin, and looked as-if she hasn’t had anything for days! Hence, being the ever-so-nice us, we fed her with what we have…biscuits. We only had biscuits in the house then, k? So we can’t feed her with anything else. She gobbled down the food within a minute or so!
The poor, abandoned, starving dog that came

Her condition was indeed pretty bad, esp when you take a good look at it:

Her tail and body was without any fur, and it was even bloody…

Her face and legs weren’t any better. It was red and raw. Her neck area seemed very bad too.
I could not imagine who did this to her. Who could have been so cruel to do this to such a thing, that was without any power to do much harm? My heart still skip a beat looking at these photos.

We seemed to have found the answer quite a bit later. It is believed (From what was known from an Indah Water worker), the dog belonged to one of the houses nearby. However, they have decided to abandon her and throw her out after she got sick.
Seriously, if you don’t want your dog to get sick, take good care of it! And if you are so stingy to even bring her to the doctor or get her some medication when she’s sick, don’t effing get a pet! Those f**kers!

Anyway,
Dad: You reckon we should bring her to SPCA?
Me: Hmm..I dunno man. She actually looks quite cute, and very pitiful
Dad: Yeah, and if we bring her to the SPCA, they’ll prolly put her to sleep, looking at her condition.
Me: WHAT??? Geez! So cruel!
Dad: Yeah, she looked a lil too weak to survive
Me: o.O
Dad: Alright, I reckon we should just feed her for a few days, and leave her here. Come weekends, we’ll bring her to the vet and see what the doc says, k?
Me: Yeah, I think that sounds like a better option.

2 months later, today:
The dog is still with us. We’ve decided to take her in, and named her Bailey, a name suggested by my sister. *I reckon my sis’s an alcoholic subconsciously, for she named her own dog Remy (After Remy Martin, an alcohol), and ours Bailey (Another alcoholic drink)* tsk tsk (^o^)
She’s all healthy now, and she doesn’t smell anymore! *Yeaps! she was smelling real bad when we found her*

Just lying around at the living room.. She has just been granted access to enter the house! =)

Time to lock her up (Time to sleep) *Geez, look at that sad face!*
I reckon she knows she looks cute and by looking all sad, I will give in to her. What’s worse? I always fall for it! (,”) Manipulative Bailey!

Dad, with his new love.
Dad adores her! Even when he’s not home, he’ll call me every single night, and the first question would be “So, how’s Bailey? have you fed her?”
Me: (=.=)” hahahah…
Well, now that his attention is always on her, he feels much less lonely now, I reckon. Since I’m always busy with work and sis..well…she’s just 9000 miles away?

Anyway, since Bailey entered into our lives, things seemed to take a turn for the better. For starters, dad has stopped being a couch potato. He’s now always doing something, feeding her, bring her for a walk (Good exercise for him!), playing with her, cleaning her up, etc…
As for me, well, I’m enjoying her company too! I got over my “dog-phobia”, and it’s always good to come home after a long day at work, and you see a dead-cute dog greeting you at the door, wagging her tail, and jumping with joy (Although I reckon it’s becuz she wants food..). Not to mention, I get to see the telly! Before, dad’s always hogging the t.v, watching sports! hehehe
So, it’s all good!
And mom? She’s funny! She’s always scolding her, calling her “stupid-dog”, cuz she’s still not quite trained when it comes to poo-poo and wee-wee. Teehehe. Hence, she’s always “doing-her-business” outside at the porch, while mom wanted her to go to the garage when she needs to poo. And mom being mom, she’s always cleaning up, by washing the WHOLE porch area!
Me: o.O
*Morning*
Me: Eh, washing?
Mom: The dog poo!!
Me: Oh, okay *walks away*
*Afternoon*
Me: Eh, how come washing again?
Mom: Yeah! The stupid dog la! Her urine everywhere!
Me: Wokays *continue whatever I was doing*
*Evening*
Me: o.O Not again?
Mom: Stupid dog! what else?
And the next thing I know?
Me: Eh, you went shopping today? what did you buy?
Mom: Oh oh! I bought a snack for Bailey!
Me: o.O I thought you hated her? hahahahha
Grandma loves her too!
So, it’s all good!

Conclusion: Always do good. Do a good deed, and she will return you the favour. What goes around, comes around. And I’m a strong believer of that.

Dawn of a new era for Malaysia?

March 9, 2008 5 comments

Yesterday, on the 08 March 2008, Malaysia’s 12th election took place.
I’m not a person that one would expect to make a political comment, for to most, I am in the “I-don’t-really-care” position. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that I don’t see anything will happen. An election is nothing more than just casting a vote that, at the end of the day, doesn’t matter. For we never really had the courage to speak up, and change, never came.

But this time, it would be an exception.
Whether this is the start of a new dawn, with more things to come in the future, or the only other time that BN got denied 2/3 majority, it will nonetheless be a date that I personally think worth to pen down.

This is the second time in history of Malaysia that Barisan Nasional were denied 2/3 majority. The opposition won themselves a total of whooping 5 states, including Kelantan, Kedah, Perak, Selangor and Penang. Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin all went down in the battle, losing their respective parliamentary seats to the opposition. MIC deputy president G. Palanivel also lost his seat to PKR. Even in the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur, the opposition won a staggering number of 10 Parliamentary seats as compared to BN 1.
It sure seems like MIC suffered the most, with majority of them being wiped out in the election, and only Dr S. Subramaniam , S. Saravanan and K. Devamani being the exceptions.
Nonetheless, by the end of it, BN won the election, as predicted. But with a simple majority. Sufficient to continue running as Federal Govt., but not enough to change constitutions at will.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi conceded defeat (Of 2/3 majority) this morning.

Perhaps for once, people are really standing up for themselves, and that enough is enough. Perhaps when someone said they do not need the votes of the Chinese, and that we should stop questioning their decisions, they were throwing away the Chinese votes.
Perhaps when the peaceful Hindraf rally turned sour, the Indians too were turning away, looking for alternatives.
Perhaps.

The only other time BN won with simple majority was in 1969. We stood up then. But did it do us any good? If anyone remembers anything about that election, it will be the May 13th Incident. Officially, 196 lives were lost, 149 wounded. 753 cases of arson reported, and an estimated of 9000 residents, 90% of them Chinese, were made homeless. (Wikipedia) This was subsequently followed by the implementation of Malaysian New Economic Policy n 1971 which cemented ‘ketuanan Melayu’ (Malay supremacy). Has it done us much good?

This time around, though, things seem calm. Nothing much has stirred up, with people getting back to their daily chores, mostly. Nonetheless, it has been the talk of the town, which was nothing less than expected, considering this is the worst defeat they have suffered by far… (For after all, BN actually managed to come up with 2/3 majority after some merging after the 1969 election).

BN may have been denied a 2/3 majority, but are we really looking at a brighter future? Change is on the way, that’s one thing for sure. MIC were defeated, badly, and they sure seemed down and out. The opposition will be holding office, and starting the new state govt in Perak, Penang and Selangor. Will the new blood really bring in encouraging change? Or is it nothing more than giving up one’s personal interests for another?
Is this really a start of a new era? Or is this just a one-off thing where all the citizens are trying to do is just to send a message that we can make a difference? Only time will tell.

Conclusion: For better or for worse? Perhaps that’s the million dollar question now.
